EMU Legends

Coach Jones Quotes

What a great idea to remember some of Coaches favorite sayings.  One of the most memorable to me is "the road to success is littered with those with good intentions".

Remember Cat

One year ago, we lost an amazing person from our team. Catherine Lee Ha. It's hard to believe a year has come and gone so fast since you were taken from this world. I know you still look down on all of us, watching over us, making sure we are doing well. I think I can speak for everyone when saying we truly miss you, but know you are in good hands. For those that has the privilege of swimming with or watching her swim, you would remember her for the tremendous amount of confidence and determination  that embodied the personality of this fun-loving women.

Coach Jones is just amazing.

Kelton Graham used to tell us that he was half man/half amazing, and this is very true. However, We will all agree that Coach Jones has Kelton Beat. Even Kelton will agree that Coach Jones is 100% amazing.

Today EMU has lost a piece of history. A piece of history that emulates what it meant to be a Huron or an Eagle. A piece of history that will still echo on the pool deck of the Michael H Jones Natatorium for eternity.

Remembering Cat Lee Ha

Image:

Catherine Lee Ha, or "Cat" as her friends know her, was an incredible person, a dear friend and a talented swimmer. Cat swam for Eastern and was a Senior from Toronto, Ontario. Her abrupt passing in December 2008 devastated many in the local swimming community.

Cat was a great swimmer, positive roll model and beloved to everybody who knew her. She could be described as a happy, upbeat person who always brought a smile to her teammates and friends.

We will all miss you Cat.

Coach Jones Saying...

I'll start things out with a saying I heard a fellow Alumni say who swam for Coach Mike Jones:

Coach Jones used to say "You wanna be good... or you wanna be great?"

I really enjoy it, it's a simple comparison of what hard work can accomplish.  Yet, coming from a living legend in the swimming community, it seems to go so much further.
