Some solid times from Session 3 (Day 2 prelims)
It was an exciting session with some great swims from both EMU and other teams! We saw the 100 Back varsity record broken again with a pool record setting 47.94 from Jacob Hanson as well as a fantastic swim from Justin Duong at 50.79!
Justin Griggs is positioned well in the 100 Fly moving into the finals session. I was blown away by an awesome swim by Jake Heyblom at 56.60 placing him as the 10th fastest EMU 100 Breast swimmer of all time! Another fast swim came from Kinross at 49.15 putting him in 11th moving into the finals and 7th on our EMU Top Ten list!
Esentan broke his own personal best by a few tenths and secured the 5th fastest time on the EMU top ten list!
Awesome job everybody. We still have to work quite hard to move up in every event this evening. Buffalo is incredibly strong and deep in each event thus far. SIU is right there with us. I'm hoping we can tear it up this evening in some relays and move up in a few events to secure 2nd place ahead of SIU and be placed better to catch Buffalo tomrrow in the finals.
Thus far, SIU has done a good job with the meet. No technical failures and few delays. I wish they had put more resources into speakers and music though, it feels a bit lacking in that department. The environment is certainly less exciting than past years without a single other alumni in attendance. I've had a few swimmers come up to me asking "Where are the Alumni?", to which I didn't have an answer. I hope to see at least a few other Alums come out to support the team this weekend, we really need the help this year, perhaps now more than ever. A big thank you goes out to the parents who have signs, banners, big letter "EMU" stuff they hold up, etc. You've done a great job supporting during each session!
